Privacy
KIP is the data controller for this website and our hostels. Short version: we collect what we need to give you a room and keep the building safe, we don't sell it, and we delete it when it's no longer needed. Version 1.0, September 2026.
What we collect and why
- Booking details — name, email, phone, payment (handled by our payment provider; we never see your full card number). Needed to perform the contract.
- Identity verification — a photo of your ID and a selfie, checked once before we issue door codes. Legal obligation and legitimate interest in keeping guests safe.
- Access logs — when your code opens which door. Legitimate interest in security and safety.
- CCTV — shared areas and entrances only, never inside rooms. Legitimate interest in security.
- Support chat — what you tell our chat support, to resolve your issue and improve answers.
- Forms on this site — what you type into the contact, work-stay, partner and waitlist forms, so we can reply.
- Analytics — we use cookieless, privacy-first analytics (Plausible). No cookies, no personal data, no cross-site tracking.
Who sees it
Our staff and the providers who run our systems for us: payment processing, identity verification, smart locks, email, and hosting. Each is bound by contract to use your data only for us. We share data with the police or other authorities where the law requires it. We do not sell personal data.
How long we keep it
- Booking and invoice records: 6 years (tax law).
- Identity verification images: deleted within 30 days of check-out.
- Access logs: 90 days. CCTV: 30 days, unless retained for an incident.
- Form enquiries and waitlist emails: until you ask us to delete them, or 2 years of inactivity.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict our use of it, and take it elsewhere. Email hello@kipstays.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
This website sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Our booking engine may set strictly necessary cookies to complete a booking.
